The work of retelling stories

All of us wrestle with stories - the ones we tell ourselves and the ones we have picked up along the way.

My hope is that you won’t feel alone as you sift through what is true and where there is a need for retelling.

FAQs

  • I work primarily with women healing from trauma and attachment wounds. Common issues that are processed in the counseling room include but are not limited to relational and sexual brokenness, marriage and family concerns, life transitions, depression, anxiety, and grief. I firmly believe we have all experienced some level of trauma, and this is often a topic of conversation in the counseling room.

In addition to providing individual counseling, I also offer group, teen, and family counseling at times. I am a Trust Based Relational Intervention® (TBRI) Practitioner and a Making Sense of Your Worth Facilitator.

  • I utilize aspects of various counseling models, including Interpersonal Process, which integrates Attachment Theory and Family Systems Theory, The Change Triangle, and Internal Family Systems. These models, in addition to specific training in Trust-Based Relational Intervention® (TBRI) and Making Sense of Your Worth, have greatly impacted my understanding of how we as humans were created for relationships and how we are shaped by significant relationships in our early years but also later on in life.

  • First of all, determining why you are pursuing therapy and considering your hopes and goals for the process will be one of the places we start!

In addition to this though, some of the main goals of my approach are to:

    1) understand your presenting concerns in the context of your family history and unique story,

    2) walk alongside of you as you experience healing for hurts in your past and present,

    3) explore how you have responded to those hurts and the patterns of relating that you have developed, and

    4) look to the future with hope pertaining to future healing and growth in relationships with yourself, others, and God (if desired).

  • While Retelling Counseling is shaped from a biblical worldview, clients from all faiths or no faith are welcome. If this is an area you would like to explore in counseling, know that the conversation is open.

“Owning our story and loving ourselves through that process is the bravest thing we’ll ever do.” - Brené Brown

It is a joy and an honor to walk alongside others in this process of storytelling. It requires courage, connection, compassion, and time. My hope is that you come to experience a safe place in order to engage in this work wherever you are along the journey.
